About the Time Card Calculator tool
Add up a week of shifts without a spreadsheet. Enter in and out times for each day (two shifts a day if someone splits their day), subtract unpaid breaks, and the calculator totals regular hours, overtime and gross pay. Overnight shifts are handled automatically. Print a clean timesheet for signatures or download a CSV for payroll.
How to use it
- Enter clock-in and clock-out times for each day you worked.
- Add unpaid break minutes, then choose the overtime rule and hourly rate.
- Read the totals, then print the timesheet or download the CSV.
Frequently asked questions
How is overtime calculated?
By default, hours over 40 in the week count as overtime at 1.5Γ, matching the federal Fair Labor Standards Act rule for non-exempt employees. You can switch to daily overtime (over 8 hours a day), double time, or no overtime.
Can I enter an overnight shift?
Yes. If the clock-out time is earlier than the clock-in time, the calculator treats it as running past midnight.
What do decimal hours mean?
Payroll systems often want hours as decimals: 7 hours 45 minutes is 7.75 hours. Both formats are shown.
Is my data saved?
