What is time and a half?
Time and a half means 1.5 times your normal hourly rate. At $20 an hour, overtime pays $30 an hour.
Who gets overtime?
Under federal law, non-exempt employees earn at least 1.5× for hours over 40 in a workweek. Some states, such as California, also require daily overtime and double time. Check your state labor department for the rules that apply to you.
